N's Zoroark ex draws with Trade and attacks with Night Joker, using a Benched N's Pokémon's attack for [D][D]. Rampaging Thunder from N's Zekrom hits 250; rotate two Zoroark ex because the one that used it can't attack next turn.

Difficulty: HardPrizes: N's Zoroark ex gives 2; Zekrom and Reshiram give 1

Your turn-2 goal

  • 2 N's Zoroark ex in play (Buddy-Buddy Poffin benches 2 N's Zorua on turn 1).
  • N's Zekrom on the Bench, N's Reshiram too if you have room.
  • [D][D] on the attacker: manual attach plus N's PP Up, fed by the Energy you discard to Trade.
  • A way to switch attackers: N's Castle, Pecharunt ex or Air Balloon.

Key decisions

  • Plan the next attacker before Rampaging Thunder. The Zoroark that used it can't attack next turn: have a second one with [D][D] and a way to switch.
  • Add only the boosts you need. Black Belt's Training +40 vs an Active ex, Binding Mochi +40 if Zoroark is Poisoned, Adrena-Brain +30: two of them reach 320-330.
  • Poison on purpose. Subjugating Chains switches your Zoroark in and Poisons it for Binding Mochi; Adrena-Brain moves that Poison damage onto them.
  • Keep a backup Zekrom. N's Zekrom (130 HP, 1 Prize) is their cheapest Boss's Orders target, and without it you lose the 250.
  • Watchtower or Castle. Team Rocket's Watchtower turns off their [C] Abilities and your Meowth ex; N's Castle gives your N's Pokémon free retreat.

Common mistakes

  • Using Rampaging Thunder with no second attacker ready: you lose a turn of attacks.
  • Using Trade with an empty hand: it needs a discard.
  • Benching Fezandipiti ex or Meowth ex without using their effect: 2 easy Prizes.
  • Leaving N's Zorua (70 HP) unevolved against spread damage.

Versions

Standard

4-4 Zoroark, 2 Zekrom, Reshiram, 2 Munkidori, Pecharunt ex, Black Belt's Training, Special Red Card, N's Castle and Watchtower.

Darmanitan

Adds N's Darumaka and N's Darmanitan: Flamebody Cannon does 90 to the Active and 90 to the Bench for double KOs.

ACE SPEC

Secret Box for consistency is the usual pick; Unfair Stamp instead adds disruption after they take a KO.

Matchups

N's Zoroark vs Dragapult

An even trade: Phantom Dive can't KO N's Zoroark ex (280) in one hit, and Rampaging Thunder alone can't KO Dragapult ex (320). Whoever keeps their Bench alive and lands the extra damage wins.

Their plan

  • Phantom Dive: 200 to the Active plus 6 counters on your Bench. With Munkidori's 3 more, that KOs an N's Zorua (70) before it evolves.
  • Risky Ruins: N's Zekrom, N's Reshiram, Munkidori and Budew enter with 2 counters. Your [D] Pokémon (Zorua, Pecharunt ex, Fezandipiti ex, Yveltal) take nothing.
  • Boss's Orders on N's Zekrom (130): one Prize for them and your 250 attack is gone.
  • 4 Crushing Hammer and Budew cut your [D][D] and lock N's PP Up and Binding Mochi for a turn.

Your prize plan

  1. Two Zoroark ex fast. Poffin into 2 N's Zorua and evolve next turn: Trade draws, and a second Zoroark covers the turn Rampaging Thunder locks the first.
  2. Virtuous Flame on Drakloak. 170 KOs Drakloak (90) or Munkidori (110) with no lock, so the same Zoroark attacks again next turn.
  3. KO Dragapult ex with modifiers. Rampaging Thunder 250 + Black Belt's Training 40 + Adrena-Brain 30 = 320, exactly its HP. Binding Mochi on a Poisoned Zoroark also works.
  4. Revenge with Powerful Rage. A Zoroark ex that survived Phantom Dive has 20 counters: Powerful Rage does 400.

Don't

  • Using Rampaging Thunder without a second loaded Zoroark ex or a way to switch (N's Castle, Pecharunt ex, Air Balloon): next turn that Zoroark can't attack.
  • Keeping a single N's Zekrom as your only big attack. Bench the second Zekrom or Reshiram before Boss's Orders takes the first.
  • Benching non-[D] Basics with Risky Ruins in play. Replace it with Team Rocket's Watchtower or N's Castle first.

Key turn

  • Your turn 2: two Zoroark ex plus N's Zekrom on the Bench, and N's PP Up loading the backup. A board that only reaches one Zoroark loses to Hammer and Phantom Dive.
  • The turn after Phantom Dive hits Zoroark ex: answer with a KO (Powerful Rage or 320 with modifiers). A second Phantom Dive finishes that Zoroark for 2 Prizes.

If they play…

Dudunsparce

Your Team Rocket's Watchtower turns off Run Away Draw (it is [C]). Drakloak's Recon Directive still works.

Moltres

Fighting Wings does 110 to an Active ex. It never KOs a healthy Zoroark ex; Virtuous Flame KOs Moltres (120).

Dudunsparce ex

Tenacious Tail does 60 for each of your Pokémon ex. Keep Pecharunt ex, Meowth ex and Fezandipiti ex off the Bench unless used.

N's Zoroark vs Basic Box

Every Zoroark ex is Weak to Grass, so Teal Mask Ogerpon ex and Iron Leaves ex KO it in one hit. Lock their draw with Team Rocket's Watchtower and KO the Grass attackers before they attack.

Their plan

  • Grass Weakness: Iron Leaves ex's Prism Edge does 180 ×2 = 360; Myriad Leaf Shower with 5 Energy across both Actives does 180 ×2. Both KO Zoroark ex (280).
  • Mega Kangaskhan ex: Rapid-Fire Combo 200, +50 per heads; 2 heads (300) KO Zoroark ex. Run Errand draws 2 each turn while it is Active.
  • Bench snipes: Torrential Pump (120 to the Bench) KOs Zorua (70) or Munkidori (110); Cruel Arrow (100) KOs Zorua.
  • Fairy Zone: Lillie's Clefairy ex makes Zekrom and Reshiram Weak to Psychic. Dragged Active by Boss's Orders, they fall to Eon Blade (400).

Your prize plan

  1. Team Rocket's Watchtower early. It turns off Run Errand and Meowth ex's Last-Ditch Catch, their draw and search. Replay it after Chien-Pao's Snow Sink.
  2. KO the Grass attacker first. Teal Mask Ogerpon ex (210) and Iron Leaves ex (220) fall to Rampaging Thunder (250) before they hit you.
  3. Use Darkness Weakness. Latias ex (210) and Iron Crown ex (220) take 170 ×2 = 340 from Virtuous Flame: KO, and that Zoroark can attack again next turn.
  4. Kangaskhan (300, 3 Prizes) needs everything: Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training + Adrena-Brain = 320. Black Belt uses your Supporter, so no Boss's Orders that turn.

Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training + Adrena-Brain (3 counters)320 · KO
Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training + Binding Mochi (Zoroark Poisoned)330 · KO

Don't

  • Rampaging Thunder with no second Zoroark ex charged: the attacker is locked next turn and Ogerpon or Iron Leaves KOs the one that's left.
  • Benching Pecharunt ex, Fezandipiti ex or Meowth ex without a job: 2 Prizes each. Rapid-Fire Combo (200) KOs Meowth ex and Pecharunt ex; one heads takes Fezandipiti ex.
  • Leaving your only N's Zekrom exposed: Boss's Orders + a KO on it (130 HP) takes away your 250 attack.

Key turn

  • Your turn 2: two Zoroark ex, a Zekrom on the Bench and Watchtower in play while Kangaskhan is still drawing.
  • The turn their Grass attacker gets its Energy: KO it right then, or you lose a Zoroark ex every turn.

If they play…

Hero's Cape

Kangaskhan at 400 HP is out of reach. Ignore it and take Prizes on the 2-Prize ex around it with Boss's Orders.

Unfair Stamp

After you KO something, you redraw 2. Each Zoroark's Trade (discard 1, draw 2) is how you rebuild.

N's Zoroark vs Sharpedo Toxtricity

Their Mega Sharpedo ex KOs a Zoroark ex every turn; you win by KOing each Sharpedo (330, 3 Prizes) in one hit and stripping Munkidori and Toxtricity, which power their damage.

Their plan

  • Hungry Jaws: 120, +150 once Sharpedo has any damage counter = 270. With Binding Mochi and Poison it does 310: KO on Zoroark ex (280).
  • Sinister Surge: Toxtricity attaches a Darkness Energy to a Benched Sharpedo and puts 2 counters on it, powering and turning on Hungry Jaws in one move.
  • Munkidori: Adrena-Brain adds 30, so even without Mochi a damaged Sharpedo does 300 to your Zoroark ex.
  • Disruption: 3 Judge and Unfair Stamp cut your hand; Team Rocket's Watchtower turns off your Meowth ex's Last-Ditch Catch.

Your prize plan

  1. Two Zoroark ex and a Zekrom by turn 2. Rampaging Thunder locks the Zoroark that used it; rotate with N's Castle or Pecharunt ex.
  2. Shred their Munkidori. It is Weak to Darkness: Shred does 140, KO, with no lock. Without it, Hungry Jaws without Mochi (270) no longer KOs Zoroark ex.
  3. Virtuous Flame on Toxtricity (140): KO with no lock. It is their Energy and their self-damage for Hungry Jaws.
  4. Sharpedo in one hit. Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training + Binding Mochi on a Poisoned Zoroark = 330. With Sinister Surge's 2 counters on it, Black Belt + Adrena-Brain also KOs.

Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training + Adrena-Brain (3 counters)320
Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training + Binding Mochi (Zoroark Poisoned)330 · KO

Don't

  • Leaving their Munkidori alive: with it, every Hungry Jaws KOs a Zoroark ex, Mochi or not.
  • Rampaging Thunder with no second Zoroark ex ready: Hungry Jaws KOs the other one and the locked one can't answer.
  • Benching Pecharunt ex or Fezandipiti ex for no reason: 2 Prizes each, and Hungry Jaws (270) KOs both.

Key turn

  • The first Sharpedo trade: they take 2 Prizes on a Zoroark ex; KO that Sharpedo back in one hit for 3, or the race is lost.
  • Before it starts: a turn spent on Shred to Munkidori or Virtuous Flame to Toxtricity buys you a full turn later.

If they play…

Yveltal

Clutch stops your Active from retreating even with N's Castle. Pecharunt ex's Subjugating Chains still switches it out.

Wally's Compassion

Heals a damaged Sharpedo fully but returns its Energy to hand. Never leave one at low HP: KO it in one hit.

N's Zoroark vs Ogerpon Meganium Hydrapple

N's Zoroark ex is weak to Grass, so almost any attack they make KOs your Active Zoroark. Your route is to KO Meganium early, slow their Energy, and land exact 210-330 hits on their ex before they take three Zoroark.

Their plan

  • Grass hits you for double. N's Zoroark ex (280) and N's Zorua (70) are weak to Grass: any of their attacks reaching 140 KOs a Zoroark.
  • Meganium doubles their Energy. With Wild Growth, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex with 2 Grass Energy against your 2 Darkness Energy does 210, 420 after Weakness; Hydrapple ex with 2 Grass Energy in play does 150, 300 after Weakness.
  • Tapu Bulu gives up only 1 Prize, yet Wood Hammer (220) KOs any Zoroark: they trade a 1-Prize attacker for your 2 Prizes.
  • Hydrapple ex (330) heals. Ripening Charge heals 30 each time it attaches Energy, so damage you spread over two turns gets undone.

Your prize plan

  1. KO Meganium first. Boss's Orders + Virtuous Flame (170) KOs Meganium (160) without locking your Zoroark; without Wild Growth, Ogerpon needs 3 Grass Energy cards to attack.
  2. Snipe Basics before they evolve. Cruel Arrow (100) KOs a Benched Chikorita (70), Applin (40) or Dipplin (80) before Forest of Vitality turns them into Stage 2s.
  3. Save 250 for their ex. Rampaging Thunder KOs Teal Mask Ogerpon ex (210); Hydrapple ex (330) needs Black Belt's Training plus a Poisoned Zoroark with Binding Mochi for exactly 330.
  4. Prize math: they need three Zoroark KOs. You need two ex plus two 1-Prize KOs, so rotate a fresh Zoroark, charged by N's PP Up, into the Active every turn with N's Castle.

Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training → Hydrapple ex (330)290
Same + Binding Mochi on a Poisoned Zoroark → Hydrapple ex (330)330 · KO

Don't

  • Benching extra ex. Meowth ex, Fezandipiti ex and Pecharunt ex are 2 Prizes each for Boss's Orders, and they only need three 2-Prize KOs.
  • Chipping Hydrapple ex. Ripening Charge heals 30 per attachment; hit it only on a turn you can deal 330, otherwise take Meganium or Ogerpon.
  • Leaving N's Zorua unevolved on the Bench. At 70 HP it falls to one Cruel Arrow from their Fezandipiti ex, and you lose a future attacker.

Key turn

  • Their first Meganium turn. KO Meganium right away (and the Bayleef behind it if you can): every attack then costs them more Energy and buys you a turn.
  • Late game, behind on Prizes. Irritated Outburst does 60 for each Prize they've taken: after 4, Pecharunt ex does 240 and KOs Teal Mask Ogerpon ex.

If they play…

Budew

Itchy Pollen locks your Items for a turn: N's PP Up, Buddy-Buddy Poffin and Ultra Ball wait. Lean on Trade and your Supporter.

Hoothoot / Noctowl

Noctowl is [C]: Team Rocket's Watchtower turns off Jewel Seeker, and their Meowth ex's Last-Ditch Catch too.

Special Red Card

Once you're at 3 Prizes or fewer they can send your hand to the bottom and leave you 3 cards; Trade on each Zoroark rebuilds it.

N's Zoroark vs Slowking

Your Darkness attacks hit their Psychic Pokémon for double, while Trifrost punishes a crowded Bench and sets up Zoroark ex KOs. Bench few Zorua, shut off Run Errand with Watchtower, and take Kangaskhan's 3 Prizes.

Their plan

  • Turn 2 Trifrost: 110 to 3 Pokémon. It KOs N's Zorua (70), Munkidori (110) and Budew; N's Zekrom and N's Reshiram survive at 20.
  • Finishing a hurt Zoroark ex: after Trifrost it has 170 left, so Rapid-Fire Combo (200) or Thunder Raid on the Bench (210) KOs it.
  • Mega Kangaskhan ex: 300 HP and Run Errand from the Active; Rapid-Fire Combo with 2 heads (300) KOs a full-HP Zoroark ex.
  • Lillie's Clefairy ex: your Dragons become weak to Psychic. Prime Catcher on a Benched N's Zekrom (130) and Super Psy Bolt does 240.

Your prize plan

  1. Team Rocket's Watchtower early: Kangaskhan and Meowth ex are Colorless, so Run Errand and Last-Ditch Catch stop. They will replace it with Academy at Night: keep the second copy.
  2. Shred the Slowking line: Slowking (120) and Slowpoke (80) are weak to Darkness, so Shred's 140 KOs either, with no attack lock on your Zoroark.
  3. Kangaskhan for 3 Prizes: Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training + one Adrena-Brain is 320; with Binding Mochi on a Poisoned Zoroark it is 330.
  4. Latias ex (210) is weak to Darkness: Virtuous Flame does 340 for 2 Prizes, and your Zoroark can attack again next turn.

Don't

  • Benching three small Pokémon at once: Zorua, Munkidori and Budew are one Trifrost away from 3 Prizes.
  • Benching Pecharunt ex, Fezandipiti ex or Meowth ex when Zeraora can come off the top: Thunder Raid (210) KOs any of them.
  • Leaving a Trifrost-hit Zoroark ex (170 left) Active into Kangaskhan: rotate it out with N's Castle or Subjugating Chains.

Key turn

  • Before their turn 2: have your Zorua already evolved into N's Zoroark ex, so Trifrost only chips instead of taking Prizes.
  • Your first Shred on Slowking: with 3 Slowking in their list, every one you KO delays their next copied attack by a turn.

If they play…

Brave Bangle

Metallic Hammer does 180 to an Active Zoroark ex: after one Trifrost (110) that is a KO.

Drapion

Hazardous Tail leaves your Active Paralyzed and Poisoned: Subjugating Chains switches it out, since it's not a retreat.

Lucky Helmet

They draw 2 each time you damage its Active holder: hit that Pokémon only when the attack is a KO.

N's Zoroark vs Mega Excadrill

Mega Excadrill ex hits 330 and knocks out a Zoroark ex every turn, while its 340 HP (440 with Hero's Cape) is hard to one-shot. Slow their Energy by taking Genesect ex and Metang, then take Excadrill in one big turn.

Their plan

  • Maximum Drilling: 200, or 330 with 5 Energy attached. 330 knocks out N's Zoroark ex (280) every turn and doesn't discard Energy.
  • Metang's Metal Maker attaches Metal Energy from the top 4 cards; Genesect ex searches their Evolution Pokémon. Those two get Excadrill to 5 Energy.
  • Jumbo Ice Cream heals 80 from an Active with 3+ Energy, and Hero's Cape makes Excadrill 440: it's built to survive two hits.
  • Mega Skarmory ex: Sonic Ripper does 220 to any Pokémon, enough for your Benched Pecharunt ex, Fezandipiti ex or N's Zekrom.

Your prize plan

  1. Turn 2: Shred (70) the Basics. Drilbur and Beldum (70) fall to Shred alone; Metang (100) to Shred + Adrena-Brain or Virtuous Flame.
  2. Rampaging Thunder on Genesect ex (220): 2 Prizes and no more free Evolution searches.
  3. Excadrill (340) in one turn: Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training + Binding Mochi (Poisoned via Subjugating Chains) + Adrena-Brain = 360. That's 3 Prizes.
  4. Second Excadrill: two Rampaging Thunders from two Zoroark ex (500) still KO it after both Jumbo Ice Creams (−160). Rotate attackers with N's Castle.

  • Using Rampaging Thunder without a second charged Zoroark ex: the attacker can't attack next turn.
  • Benching Pecharunt ex, Meowth ex or Fezandipiti ex for no reason: 2 Prizes for one Sonic Ripper.

Key turn

  • Their turn 2-3, before Excadrill has 5 Energy. At 200, Maximum Drilling doesn't KO your Zoroark ex: KO every Metang you can until then.
  • The turn Black Belt's Training, Mochi and Munkidori line up: save them all for the Excadrill KO, it's 3 Prizes.

If they play…

Mega Skarmory ex

3 Prizes, 260 HP. After Sonic Ripper it sits Energy-less on the Bench: Boss's Orders + Rampaging Thunder + Adrena-Brain (280) KOs it.

Hero's Cape

Excadrill goes to 440. Win on the other Prizes: Genesect ex, Skarmory, Metang, Fezandipiti ex.

Iron Defender

Their Metal Pokémon take 30 less for a turn: add one more boost or wait a turn before the big hit.

N's Zoroark vs Lucario Hariyama

Mega Lucario ex knocks out a Zoroark ex with one Premium Power Pro, and most of their board gives 1 Prize. You need a one-turn KO on Lucario (340) and to keep your Fighting-weak ex off the Bench.

Their plan

  • Mega Brave: 270, plus 30 per Premium Power Pro. One Pro (300) knocks out N's Zoroark ex (280).
  • Aura Jab: 130 for one Energy and re-attaches 3 Fighting Energy from the discard to their Bench.
  • Hariyama's Heave-Ho Catcher pulls a Benched Pokémon in when it evolves. Pecharunt ex, Meowth ex and Fezandipiti ex are weak to Fighting: Aura Jab does 260.
  • Wally's Compassion heals all damage from Lucario: two-turn KOs don't stick.

Your prize plan

  1. Cut their draw early: Virtuous Flame (170) knocks out Solrock or Lunatone (110). Without Solrock, Lunar Cycle stops.
  2. Hit Riolu (80) before it evolves: Shred (70) + Adrena-Brain (30). Each Riolu gone is one less 3-Prize threat.
  3. Lucario (340) in one turn: Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training + Binding Mochi + Adrena-Brain = 360. 3 Prizes, and Wally's Compassion can't save it.

  • Hitting Lucario for 250 and passing: Wally's Compassion heals it all.
  • Keeping a single N's Zekrom on the Bench: Aura Jab (130) knocks it out and Night Joker loses its 250.

Key turn

  • The first turn Lucario is Active. Mega Brave can't be used two turns in a row, so it often stays: spend Black Belt's Training there for 3 Prizes.
  • Count their Premium Power Pros: Mega Brave alone (270) is 10 short of your Zoroark ex, so once they're out of Pros it survives.

If they play…

Rocky Fighting Energy

Blocks the effects of your attacks on that Pokémon: Yveltal's Clutch won't stop it from retreating.

Hero's Cape

Lucario goes to 440, out of one-turn reach. Take Prizes from Solrock, Lunatone, Riolu and Hariyama instead.

Maximum Belt

+50 against your Active ex: Aura Jab does 180, so a Zoroark ex already holding 100 damage falls.

N's Zoroark vs Dhelmise

Dhelmise and Banette are weak to Darkness, and your copied attacks are Darkness. Shred alone KOs Dhelmise every turn with no drawback, while they need two Vengeful Anchors per Zoroark ex. Just don't hand them easy ex Prizes.

Their plan

  • Vengeful Anchor: 170 for one [P] once 4 Hide 'n' Sneak Pokémon are in their discard. Two hits KO a Zoroark ex (280); one KOs N's Zekrom, Munkidori or Meowth ex.
  • Matcha Spin (6+ in the discard): 4 counters on each of your Pokémon. Followed by Anchor, that's 210: enough for Fezandipiti ex or Pecharunt ex.
  • Discard engine: Gwynn, Ultra Ball and Prism Tower fill the discard; Dudunsparce's Run Away Draw keeps them drawing.
  • Legacy Energy: the first KO on the Pokémon holding it gives you 1 Prize less.

Your prize plan

  1. Shred every turn. Night Joker into Shred does 70 ×2 Weakness = 140: KOs Dhelmise (140) and Banette (80), and the same Zoroark ex can attack again next turn.
  2. KO Dhelmise before Hide 'n' Sneak Pokémon. Every Banette, Shuppet, Poltchageist or Sinistcha you KO goes to their discard and powers Matcha Spin and Spiritomb.
  3. Boss their ex for 2 Prizes. Virtuous Flame (340) KOs Latias ex; with Black Belt's Training (210) it KOs Lillie's Clefairy ex; Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt (290) KOs Dudunsparce ex or Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex.
  4. Play Team Rocket's Watchtower. Dudunsparce's Run Away Draw and Patrat's Watchful Eye are Colorless Abilities: both switch off.

  • Rampaging Thunder when Shred already gets the KO: it locks that Zoroark ex out of attacking next turn for nothing.
  • Benching Meowth ex: one Vengeful Anchor (170) KOs it for 2 Prizes.
  • Aiming Adrena-Brain at Hide 'n' Sneak Pokémon: the Ability's effect is prevented. Move counters onto Dhelmise, Dunsparce or their ex.

Key turn

  • Your first turns: Budew's Itchy Pollen stops their Ultra Ball, one of the ways they reach 4 in the discard. Until then Vengeful Anchor does only 30.
  • When they bench an ex: Boss it right away. Their deck is mostly single-Prize, so each 2-Prize KO puts you a full turn ahead.

If they play…

Spiritomb

With 13 Hide 'n' Sneak Pokémon in their discard, Spiritual End quadruples counters: a Zoroark ex with 70 damage dies. Keep KOing Dhelmise instead.

Patrat

Watchful Eye stops Adrena-Brain from moving counters. Team Rocket's Watchtower turns it off.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex

Blood Moon (240) gets cheaper as you take Prizes. Rampaging Thunder + Black Belt's Training (290) KOs it (260).
